Mike Mignola brings fans a new Hellboy comic for Halloween
Comic book visionary Mike Mignola has even more adventures up his sleeve for his favorite creation – Hellboy – and the latest will be hitting comic book stores just in time for Halloween.
Each number of Hellboy: the Silver Lantern club– an all-new five-issue miniseries from Dark Horse Comics – will feature “another Victorian occult investigator who fought evil years before Hellboy came on the scene,” according to a statement from Dark Horse.
The series written by Mignola and Chris Roberson (iZombie) and illustrated by Christopher Mitten and Ben Stenbeck (featuring Michelle Madsen’s livery) – will be available October 27. Check out the cover of the first 32-page issue – rendered by Mignola, Mitten and Dave Stewart – on this page.
Roberson described the Silver Lantern Club as “a group of occult investigators who met regularly at a London tavern to swap stories over drinks.” In this new series, Hellboy and Professor Trevor Bruttenholm “take a break from an ongoing investigation to meet the professor’s uncle Simon at this same tavern – who was himself a member of the club – to hear stories about the days of glory ”.
In the first issue, Hellboy uncovers the mysteries of an exorcism gone awry “when his parent occult investigator reveals the secret and perilous adventures of one of the most mysterious societies in the Hellboy universe”.
Using a unique format, each issue will follow Hellboy and the Professor (drawn by Stenbeck) as they listen to a new occult adventure in Silver Lantern Club history (drawn by Mitten).
