Marvel Comics’ Dark Web Pits Spidey and the X-Men Against a New Villain

Spider-Man and the X-Men take on a new kind of evil within the Dark Web – and I’m not talking about the internet – in this gripping new series of dark crossovers, which will be released in November 2022.

Discussed at several Marvel Comics panels at San Diego Comic-Con, this new crossover epic is led by Marvel writer, Zeb Wells, which will pit the mutants of Xavier and Spidey against each other in new adventures. This will be done on different comics in his Amazing Spider-Man series and related comics, creating a web of stories between issues.

In true Marvel Comics fashion, the Dark Web has its origins in the last free comics day, where readers were treated to a free copy of Spider-Man/Venom. In this issue, two classic Marvel characters make an appearance, Benjamin Reilly, the former Scarlet Spider (and main Earth clone of Peter Parker), and Madelyne Pryor (Cable’s mother and main clone of Jean Gray Earth) .

Having regained popularity in the Marvel Comics Universe, and both currently despised in mythos, Reilly and Pryor will take on new identities as Chasm and the Goblin Queen respectively, wreaking havoc for all residents and heroes on Earth-616. .

Dark Web will update readers on what happened with Benjamin Reilly and Madelyne Pryor in the introductory issues of Well’s Amazing Spider-Man #14, which will feature art from Michael Dowling and Kyle Hotz.

After the foundational issues are released in November, Marvel Comics will release Dark Web Alpha #1 in December along with New Jersey Comic Book Legend, Adam Kubertwho will team up with Zeb Wells for the story.

Dark Web will give Spider-Man and X-Men fans the chance to meet an enigmatic new villain in Marvel Comics’ Rogues Gallery, Hallow’s Eve.

Named after a much-loved Holiday predecessor, not much is known about the creepy-looking villain. In the cover photo below, we can see Hallow’s Eve wearing a pumpkin flavo — I mean a colorful hoodie and donning a mask.

The newest member of the Rogues Gallery, illustrated by the talented Ed McGuinness, also holds a wooden staff and is surrounded by masks of famous monsters. What role will she have in the Dark Web, and how will she impact our heroes, are a few questions left for readers to find out this coming fall.

In addition to introducing Hallow’s Eve as a new villain for both Spider-Man and the X-Men, the epic Dark Web crossover will also feature a reimagining of another renowned Marvel Comics villain, The Green Goblin.

Known as the Gold Goblin in this Dark Web tie-in series, writer Christoper Cantwell and artist Lan Medina create a new arc for Norman Osborn, who tries to escape his past as the Green Goblin and focuses on the being a hero due to events in the Amazing Spider-Man series. Whether Osborne can actually escape his inner Goblin will also be left to readers of this new tie-in to the Dark Web crossover series.

It’s an exciting time for Marvel Comics fans, especially Spider-Man and X-Men readers, as the Dark Web will bring a new villain into the mix and challenge the morality of a classic villain in a new and mysterious journey that is sure to rock the shelves of your local comic book store.
