Iron Man’s new antivirus armor does what the Hulkbuster can’t
Iron Man’s virus armor just debuted in Marvel Comics and has proven to have one key advantage against Hulkbuster: it can’t be touched.
Warning! Spoilers for Spider-Man WEB # 4 by Marvel Comics below
Marvel Comics just launched a brand new Iron Man An armor that could be more effective in fighting Hulks than the many Hulkbuster suits. In Spider-Man WEB # 4, Iron Man takes on a hologram guise to greet the WEB students. However, the group of young heroes quickly discover that the projection has been hacked and the viral armor cannot be easily contained.
Spider-Man WEB saw Tony Stark bring together some of the brightest minds in the Marvel Universe and empower them to learn and train with cutting edge technology. However, the students, including Peter Parker, Harley Keener, and Squirrel Girl, faced off against a hacker who attempted to steal and corrupt valuable WEB data while tracking down the heavily involved Green Goblin. After arriving in Paris, the team has just learned the truth behind the hacker – but first, they have to face a rogue Iron Man hologram.
In Spider-Man WEB # 4 by Kevin Shinick, Alberto Alburquerque, Rachelle Rosenberg and Travis Lanham of VC, Amadeus Cho angrily confronts the WEB students, unimpressed by what happened, suggesting that one of the students is the target of the Green Goblin. After reviewing the potential suspects behind the Green Goblin mask, Iron Man arrives by hologram. He tells them that he has located the suspects and that they were all found in the attack. However, as he tells what to do next, the Iron Man hologram is hacked and attacks the students.
The hacked Iron Man hologram turns out to be a huge problem for Amadeus Cho and the students of the WEB. He hits them with a powerful blast of energy, as the young Hulk’s attacks are rendered useless, as each punch goes through the projections without impact. As Onome manages to send the hologram back to the computer system, the students must jump into virtual reality and eliminate the virus from within. It turns out that the Green Goblin is actually Mendel Stromm, a former Spider-Man villain whose body is almost entirely a machine.
While Tony Stark didn’t have control after the Hologram hack, he should consider using some version of the anti-virus armor instead of the Hulkbuster. Amadeus Cho’s punches had no effect on the throw. If Stark can pilot a hologram that can strike back but not get hit, that seems like a perfect solution to taking the Hulk down. Hulkbuster armor is certainly powerful and worth using, but it often gets destroyed at the end of battle. With the virus armor, Iron Man could potentially stop the Hulk without taking a single punch.
