Gruppo Alcuni Cartoons launches “Cartoons for Peace” fundraiser
In a time of extraordinary sadness and turmoil, as the world watches from the outside as tragedy unfolds on the evening news, Gruppo Alcuni Cartoons offers its animated mini-series, cartoons for peace (click to see the trailer), to any global network or channel interested in airing it, in exchange for donations to fund relief efforts for children in war zones.
The project was inspired by the proclamation of the General Assembly of the United Nations, in the year 2000, declaring the whole 1st decade of the century “International decade for a culture of peace and non-violence for the children of the world”. In response, the Italian Gruppo Alcuni developed the cartoons for peace project in cooperation with the UNESCO Associated Schools Network (ASPnet) and RAI.
With the theme of “peace”, schoolchildren from all over the world created storyboards. Creative contributions came from children from countries such as Ecuador, Egypt, Indonesia, Lebanon, Mexico, the Philippines, Qatar and Uganda. Submissions used to create a 2D 20×1′ animated series.
the cartoons for peace the co-producers are currently making this hard-hitting mini-series available free of charge to any TV channel interested in airing it, with the added bonus that no dubbing is required.
“We believe this animated content is still extremely relevant, as it reflects the hopes of thousands of children around the world and that hasn’t changed over time,” producer Francesco Manfio said. “In exchange, we would ask the networks to give a free contribution for children in Ukraine or in any war zone, because children are the first victims of war.”
