Former LP cartoonist, now Globe and Mail, honored with stamp
“Gable captures the voices of average citizens in his cartoons and how they view the decisions made by those in power. He regularly uses satire and sarcasm to highlight the important issues facing our country and the world, ”added a release from Canada Post.
Gable, who won seven National Newspaper Awards for editorial cartoon, was invested as a member of the Order of Canada in 2018. His quote says he is “a legend within the editorial cartoon community” and that his work “embodies our national sense of humor, namely our ability to laugh at ourselves and our institutions.”
The other stamps in the Canada Post series pay tribute to Serge Chapleau of the press, Terry mosher of the Montreal Gazette,Duncan Macpherson the Toronto Star and Bruce MacKinnon from the Chronicle Herald.
Editorial Caricaturists stamps and collectibles will be available at canadapost.ca and at post offices starting at October 8.
