Artistic Playlist: TidalWave Comics “Female Force – First Ladies”
A Tidal Wave Comics – a Vancouver-based multimedia production company that specializes in telling politician stories in comics – has released a new graphic novel.
Feminine strength: first ladies presents current First Lady Jill Biden and others .
And its author, Michael Frizell, chats with Kelli Steele of Delaware Public Media in this week’s Arts playlist.
TidalWave Comics has featured politicians in comic book form for over a decade.
Now the company is turning its attention to America’s First Ladies with Female Force: First Ladies.
The new 96-page graphic novel. features current First Lady Jill Biden, as well as former First Ladies Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton and Nancy Reagan.
And its author Michael Frizell says it fits the mission of the company.
“TidalWave Productions aims to help people of school age and those who want to learn more about their favorite politicians or celebrities to truly understand the stories behind people,” said Frizell.
Frizell adds that the timing of this book’s release makes sense as a new school year begins.
And he says Jill Biden is compelling read.
“Jill’s background as a teacher and her education makes her an interesting subject to write about,” Frozell said. “There’s just something a little more popular, a little more – gosh, I hate to use the word normal – that sounds like a terrible way to approach it. But she is. She’s like one of the guys. ‘between us. And I think that’s what made him really stand out.
