BEREA, Ohio (AP) – Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield played with a torn labrum in his left shoulder that won’t require surgery at this time, a person familiar with the injury told The Associated Press on Thursday. .
Mayfield will continue to play until the injury to his non-pitching shoulder worsens, said the person who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the situation.
Mayfield injured his shoulder while making a tackle after throwing an interception against Houston on September 21. He led the NFL in two-game completion percentage (81.6%), but fell to 65.5%.
Last week, Mayfield completed just 15 of 33 assists in a win over Minnesota. On Wednesday, he revealed he was wearing a shoulder harness and added that “it shouldn’t” interfere with his passing ability.
