AMAZING SPIDER-MAN: KING’S RANSOM resurrects long-dead Spider-Man villain
Boomerang betrayed Spider-Man in Today’s Pages Amazing Spider-Man: The King’s Ransom, delivering the complete Lifeline tablet to Wilson Fisk. While we Peter Parker waited for The Kingpin to bring Vanessa Fisk back from the dead, the villain accepted the fact that his late wife wouldn’t want to be resurrected to live alongside the man she hated. before dying.
Instead, he chose to right Vanessa’s biggest mistake and bring back their son, Richard, a villain better known as The Rose. Despite a brief comeback during “The Clone Conspiracy,” Richard has remained dead since his mother shot him, so it will be interesting to see what he brings to the table now The Kingpin is the mayor of New York City.
The rose has been a thorn (no pun intended) on the sides of his dear old daddy and Spidey over the years, so he’s probably going to make a splash in Amazing Spider-Man moving forward.
As we near the 900th issue of the series, it’s clear that writer Nick Spencer has big plans for Kindred and some sort of “One More Day” retcon, but he’s certainly throwing a lot of them on the robot wall in the meantime. . It feels like a big change in the status quo is underway for the web-slinger, something that is arguably needed at this point (yes, we want her marriage to MJ to return).
